Queensland Solar Power Feed - In- Tariff about to decrease  – Act Now!

Have you thought about cutting your costs by installing solar power? Sitting on the fence with this?  Not sure of the benefits?

If you are, then NOW is the time to act. As an energy efficiency consultant with a background in solar power, one thing I have learnt, is that government rebates don’t get better, they only get worse.  When the $8000 federal government rebate for solar power ended early in May 2009 I had to deal with many people that missed out. Commonly those people said that they wished they had acted earlier or that someone had pushed them a little harder to make a decision. Well, here I am respectfully and genuinely offering a push.  The rebates for solar power around the country are changing and not for the better. The feed-in-tariff of 44 cents per kw will reduce significantly for those that don't lodge Energex applications before July 10 2012.

Solar power is very viable for 90% of the hundreds of homes I have consulted for, especially when the consumption of the home is addressed first and some other energy efficiency measures are implemented.  It’s really easy to reduce your costs and take the plunge into solar power. We can help.

Right now the most important thing you need to do is lodge an application for Network Connection. This will ensure you lock in the 44cents per kw and then you will have 1 year to install solar power. If you don't lodge an application before July 10, you won't lock in the rate and the rate for you after July 9 will be 8 cents per kwh. A dramatically different picture.

Lodging an application doesn't cost a cent! All you need is an electricity bill and 2 minutes free time... Act Now! We will be processing applications until the 7th of July. Call our application approval hotline (07)56414775.

Sustainable Living

Is there more you can do to reduce your electricity bill than to, simply turn off the lights and live in the dark?

Cameron Lawrence
The answer, I’m happy to say is a resounding yes. Nowadays most of our lives are so busy. As we have more demand on our time we look for ways to create and save time so that when we are in our homes we can just relax and finally enjoy our free time. As a result we’ve filled our homes with all sorts of devices to make our lives more comfortable and convenient. Unfortunately each of these devices, if not installed, set up or utilized in the correct way or situation can create unnecessary power usage and lead to a higher than necessary power bill.

With this in mind I’d like to welcome you to the 1st sustainable living blog post. As a sustainable living consultant, I find myself on a regular basis answering a lot of similar questions, around how to create a more comfortable energy efficient home. In this column, in the coming weeks, I’d like to share the answers that I have found with you, so that you might live in a more simple energy efficient home that also puts less stress on your hip pocket!
